Passionate Innovation

Innovation

Howling Frog Wines is passionate about innovation, which is why we partner with the Wine Innovation Cluster (WIC) for our winemaking services.

Established as a joint venture between the Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI), CSIRO, South Australian Research & Development Insitute and the University of Adelaide, WIC supports the Australian wine industry by providing high-quality small and pilot-scale wines and other beverages for research and commercial projects.

Located at the Hickinbotham-Roseworthy Wine Science Laboratory (WIC East) on the Waite Campus in Urrbrae, SA, WIC is managed by John Gledhill, a highly qualified and experienced winemaker. The service leverages the expertise and latest scientific knowledge of key personnel within the WIC partnership.

By selecting WIC as our winemaking service provider, Howling Frog Wines produces premium wines utilizing the latest expertise and vinification techniques uniquely available at this specialized research and development facility.

Winemaker Development

By carefully selecting the finest grapes from South Australia's premier wine-growing regions, Howling Frog enables the winemakers and scientists at the Wine Innovation Cluster (WIC) to have the unique opportunity to apply their talents and the latest technologies to a diverse array of grape varieties and terroirs. This collaboration not only enhances the quality of the wines produced but also allows for extensive experimentation and innovation, ensuring that each wine reflects the distinct characteristics of its region.

The access to such high-quality grapes, combined with WIC's cutting-edge research and vinification techniques, enables the creation of exceptional wines that showcase the best of South Australia's rich viticultural heritage.
